Our approach to education emphasizes quality in literature, history and the arts, along with a thorough grounding in the basic skills. Resources used and methods employed are those which have proven to achieve the best results with the majority of students over time. Teachers conduct instruction in an environment of respect and productivity. Our Catholic environment requires that each child's education be conducted with reverence to God. Our children will come to know, love and live the Catholic Faith. Further, our graduates will be able to defend their Faith. Our setting is prayerful, and the school observes major Feast Days in the Church calendar. The school encourages devotions to Our Lady, loyalty to the Holy Father and obedience to the Magisterium of the Church. In recognition of parents' rights as the primary educators of their children, the school provides a detailed explanation of the academic program and spiritual setting. The school fulfills its obligation to preserve and enhance the program so that parents who have entrusted their children to the TLA can maintain confidence in the school.

We believe in encouraging all learners to do their best, and in group efforts, all children should feel whatever pride there is generated from the entire project. Cooperative Learning, as it has been introduced to the public system in recent years, incorporates an attempt to ensure a noncompetitive atmosphere prevails. Along with other moves to eliminate competition in school, this one flies in the face of reality. That some children manage to produce better quality than others is something they do not have to be told. Our approach may result in competition to some degree, but that is what helps to encourage a learner to strive for excellence. When we downplay one's excellence to avoid hurting the feelings of another who does not do as well, we do neither a favour.

We understand that parents want to know whether the progress made in school is consistent with some standard (grade level, for example). This is what we call achievement. Knowing how well a child is doing in relation to his or her own ability and previous record is what we call performance. Report cards that are solely "anecdotal" generally list activities a child has undertaken and include a comment about how well he or she is working. From this there might be an understanding of performance, but little of achievement. Our report cards inform parents about achievement, performance and behaviour, providing a complete picture of academic progress and citizenship.
It is expected that students will at all times show respect for self and others, and property belonging to themselves and others. Students will demonstrate mannerly behaviour and be obedient to those in the school with authority, including parents and all staff. Conduct should reflect a proper spirituality, with absolute reverence to the Catholic Faith. Students are expected to participate in all curricular and extracurricular activities with due diligence and effort. At no time will students be permitted to use foul language or engage in physical confrontation.
Students at Traditional Learning Academy are dressed to learn. Proper uniforms promote self esteem and hence academic achievement and good behaviour. Our uniforms are befitting Christian modesty and glorify God rather than self.
Boy's uniforms include white shirt, grey pants, prescribed plaid neck tie and navy cardigan with school crest, dark socks and dress shoes.
